The workshop named “Importance of Verification of Measuring Instruments Used in Healthcare” took place in the premises of the Bureau of Metrology on 22 April 2019.

The workshop was led by the Assistant Director and Head of the Sector for Verification of Measuring Instruments in the Bureau of Metrology – Zoran Ćetković.

The workshop was attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Health, Administration for Inspection Affairs, Clinical Center of Montenegro, Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro (CALIMS), Institute for Emergency Medical Aid, Montefarm as well as the representatives from ten primary health care centers, seven general hospitals and two private healthcare institutions, namely General Hospital Meljine and polyclinic „Rezidencija zdravlja Kerber“.

The workshop pointed out that all public and private health institutions must make sure that the measuring instruments, subject to special regulations, are used only if they comply with the prescribed metrological requirements or if they are verified and affixed with the prescribed marks.

The agenda included discussions on the procedure for type approval of measuring instruments and verification (testing and hallmarking). Another point of discussion were measuring instruments used in healthcare  for which the technical capacities for verification were established at the Bureau of Metrology. Finally, the manner of submitting requests and the deadlines for periodic verification were also discussed, as well as the reimbursement of fees.

In accordance with the Law on Metrology, the owners, customers and persons using the measuring instruments are obliged to set up, operate and maintain the measuring instruments so as to comply with the prescribed accuracy of measurement.

The Bureau of Metrology continuously improves its technical capacities and capabilities, and at the moment, performs verification of height measuring devices, mass measuring devices (balances, baby weighing scales) and manometers for measuring blood pressure.
