The Sector for Verification of Measuring Instruments carries out the following tasks:

• Assessing compliance of measuring instruments used in trade of goods and services, protection of human and animal health, general safety, protection of assets, environment and natural resources, occupational safety, traffic safety, and accident prevention with metrological requirements as well as control of prepackaged products and measuring container bottles;
• Assessing compliance against the requirements for giving authorizations for conducting the tasks related to preparation of measuring instruments for verification;
• Development, establishment and application of testing methods with regard to the quantity of pre-packaged products;
• Development and establishment of testing methods with regard to the measuring instruments provided for in the Law on Metrology and related bylaws;
• Participation in scientific and research projects;
• Giving expert opinion for authorization of persons for conducting tasks in the field of metrology;
• Preparing studies, surveys and analysis in the field of metrology;
• Preparation of expert grounds for draft regulations in the field of metrology;
• Maintaining the database on the verified measuring instruments;
• Maintaining the database on the owners/users of measuring instruments;
• Updating the necessary data in order to ensure the production of an electronic documentation management system related to the verified measuring instruments – eDMS;
• Security and protection of the Bureau’s information system;
• Processing and delivery of statistical data;
• Conducting tasks related to the quality system establishment and maintenance.

• Laboratory for verification of breath analyzers;
• Laboratory for testing of prepackaged products;
• Laboratory for verification of measuring instruments used in geodesy.
