A flue gas analyser is a measuring device that serves to determine volume part of specific motor vehicle flue gas fractions. The aforementioned flue gas fractions are carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), oxygen (O₂) and hydrocarbon (HC).

Having in mind the ever growing need for environmental protection, the Bureau for Metrology has established the Laboratory for verification of flue gas analysers. The equipment necessary for relevant checks has been procured, and training courses delivered to staff who will be in charge of verification procedure. Procurement of certified reference gas mixtures has been conducted, for which the manufacturer, Messer Tehnogas AD, Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, has provided certificates to confirm composition of the mixture pursuant to ISO 6141 Gas analysis — Contents of certificates for calibration gas mixtures.

In order to make the verification of flue gas analysers as efficient as possible and in compliance with metrological regulations on the obligation of verification of this type of measuring advice, and taking into account the fact that there are more than 100 stations in the territory of Montenegro conducting the activity of motor vehicle technical check, it is necessary to improve cooperation with the authorities responsible for issuance of authorisations to stations for technical check of motor vehicles.
