Activities
The following verifications can be applied for at the Laboratory for verification of speed measuring instruments:
- radar speed meters of K and Ka frequency range;
- laser speed meters;
- speed meters installed in the vehicle;
- stationary speed meters.
Metrological equipment
The following reference devices are used in the Laboratory:
- signal generator for speed metering based on the Doppler effect principle, K range;
- standard of the laser speed meter LTI TRU Cam for verification of speed based on the Doppler effect principle, Ka range;
- reference speed meter and road length – fifth wheel for verification of speed meter from the moving vehicle and stationary speed meters;
- laser length meter (0 m − 200 m) for verification of laser speed meters and speed meters from the moving vehicle;
- laser speed simulator for verification of laser speed meters;
- stop watch.
Traceability
Reference standards for verification of speed meters, traceable according to national metrological institutes’ standards or national metrological laboratories. They are calibrated in certified calibration laboratories abroad, accredited by the Accreditation Body signatory to the EA MLA Agreement. Some are calibrated in the accredited laboratories of the Bureau for Metrology.
