Activities

The Laboratory for Electrical Quantities carries out the tasks related to:

  • realization, preservation, maintenance and improvement of the national standard of electrical quantitites in Montenegro;
  • providing metrological traceability in the area of electrical quantities in Montenegro by transferring the unit of electrical quantities from the national standard to the secondary and working standards;
  • development of measurement methods for transferring the unit of electrical quantities;
  • calibration of measuring instruments/standards used for measuring electrical quantities;
  • participation in inter-laboratory comparisons;
  • verification of devices used for measuring electrical quantities.

National Measurement Standard

National measurement standard is a digital multimeter, manufactured by FLUKE, type 8508A. With a 8,5-digit resolution, exceptional linearity and low noise level, FLUKE 8508A digital multimeter ensures the most accurate measurements of commercially available measuring instruments today in the field of voltage, current and resistance measurements. In addition to the accuracy of the multimeter, its stability is also very important. FLUKE 8508A multimeter ensures long-term stability of 2,7 ppm, and short-term stability of 0,5 ppm, assuring confidence in measurement throughout the whole year.

FLUKE 8508A multimeter replaces 8 measuring instruments:

  • multimeter
  • measuring bridge for measuring electrical resistance
  • voltage divider
  • null detector
  • AC/DC transfer
  • thermometer
  • AC/DC resistors
  • picoammeter

The FLUKE 8508A multimeter with measuring range from 200 mV to 1 kV for measuring voltage, and the frequency range up to 1 MHz for AC measurement, cover all low frequency voltage measurements. All ranges aloow 8.5-digit resolution. The exceptional linearity, combined with the ratio measurement possiblity, results in the FLUKE 8508A multimeter being able to replace the use of Kelvin Varley dividers and AC/DC voltage transfer standards. Current measurement ranges from 200 μA to 20 A at frequencies from 1 Hz to 100 kHz for AC measurement. The FLUKE 8508A multimeter can measure resistance in the range of 2 Ω to 20 GΩ, with a possiblity of 5.5 to 8.5 digit resolution.

Scope Of Accreditation

Verification Of Measuring Instruments

The Laboratory for Electrical Quantities carries out examination of measuring instruments used for testing safety measures in electrical engineering with the aim of their verification.

Type Approval Of Measuring Instruments

In order to examine compliance with the prescribed technical and metrological requirements to determine the type of a measuring instrument, the Laboratory for Electrical Quantities carries out type examination for measuring instruments used for testing safety measures in electrical engineering in accordance with the Decree on legal measuring instruments that are subject to mandatory verification or type approval (Official Gazette of Montenegro 81/09).

  • Measuring instruments for testing safety measures in electrical engineering.
