Activities
The Laboratory conducts verification of breath analysers used in the area of traffic safety, protection of property, environmental protection, protection of natural resources, occupational health and safety, and protection against accidents. Pursuant to the Regulation on legal measuring instruments that are subject to mandatory verification or type approval of the measuring instrument (Official Gazette of Montenegro 81/09 and 13/17) and Rulebook on intervals for periodic verification of legal measuring instruments (Official Gazette of Montenegro 86/09 and 13/17), breath analysers must have type approval and be verified, and the interval of regular verification of these measuring devices is one year, i.e., six months in case that analyser manufacturer has declared six months stability of metrological characteristics.
The reference material used in the check of breath analysers is solution of ethanol in four different concentrations ranging between 0 mg/l and 2 mg/l.
The Bureau for Metrology provides the above mentioned solutions from the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals of the Republic of Serbia, which has published the CMC in the BIPM database, thus ensuring metrological traceability in this area in Montenegro.
Metrological equipment
The equipment for the inspection of breath analysers comprises the simulator of ethanol vapours of known concentrations with three sequenced vessels, air generator with regulator, flow meter and mouthpiece.
