Tasks of the Section for industrial metrology include:

  • implementing the calibration procedures for measuring instruments used in industrial, control and testing processes;
  • organising and conducting interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency testing projects (PT schemes) in the area of metrology;
  • organising PT schemes for authorised entities in the area of metrology;
  • preparing the professional bases for drafting the regulations in the area of metrology;
  • conducting administrative proceedings;
  • examination and type approvals of measuring instruments;
  • providing expert opinion for authorising the entities to carry out tasks in the area of metrology;
  • participating in research and development projects in the area of metrology;
  • preparing the studies, papers and analyses in order to identify needs of industrial installations for the establishment of new laboratory capacities and competencies of the Bureau for the implementation of calibration of measuring devices/standards;
  • preparing the training and development plans for staff so as to ensure competence;
  • participating in activities related to the work of regional metrological organisations in the field of metrology;
  • transferring the knowledge to service users regarding the correct use of measuring devices and standards, as well as the proper use of calibration results;
  • participating in the preparation of technical specifications for procurements of operational standards and measuring equipment;
  • carrying out tasks related to the establishment and maintenance of quality management systems;
  • providing expert opinion and expert assistance in the area of metrology.
